About 240 North

So…we need to tell you something about ourselves. We tried to write something so prolific that you would feel you had no choice but to listen to us, but that’s just not happening. So here it goes, the non-prolific explanation of what 240 North is all about. The truth of the matter is, we are four normal guys who like to write original rock music. We are hard-working and don’t take ourselves too seriously (well, except for our lead singer…but isn’t that just like a lead singer).

240 North started out in 2009 as a group of guys that practiced twice a week in a basement in Buffalo, NY. Today, 240 North has elevated its status to that of being a group of guys that practices twice a week in a renovated loft above a garage in Buffalo, NY. Oh how things change in such a few short years.

The band consists of four members. JW is the band’s drummer. He has multiple tattoos, which pretty much makes him the coolest member of the band. His steady percussive beats provide the perfect backdrop for 240 North’s sound. Completing the rhythm section is Michael, the band’s bass player. Michael has just recently gotten a tattoo and is seriously looking to get more in the future. So we guess that makes him the second coolest member of the group. His playing style mixes tapping, flamenco-like strumming, whammy bar bends and slapping (whoops…that’s a description of Les Claypool’s bass playing style from Wikipedia). Let’s just say that Michael’s level is a bit below Claypool’s (ok, way below Claypool’s), but he adequately holds down 240 North’s lower registry.

The band’s resident axe grinder is Trevor. Though Trevor has no visible tattoos, there are rumors of a small butterfly-shaped birthmark that he passes off as a tattoo to those fortunate enough to see it (or unfortunate enough- depends on perspective). Trevor’s guitar playing provides the backbone to most of the 240 North catalog.

Steve is the band’s lead singer. He has no tattoos and/or oddly shaped birthmarks, which leaves him as the most “un-cool” member of the band. What he lacks in “coolness”, he makes up for with a little bit of ego, a little bit of bravado, and a whole lot of theatrics. His unique lyrics and catchy melodies round out 240 North’s sound.
